Navtex is a maritime teletype system belonging to the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).

It is used for transmitting navigational alarms, weather alarms and emergency safety, search and rescue information. Shore

The Navtex system divides the globe into 16 regions, each of which contains a number of shore stations.
